Aniba Hotep is an American Singer/Songwriter whose name translates as Messenger of Peace.  Born in a small Virginia town, Aniba’s career started at the early age of 8 years old when she would travel throughout Virginia performing in churches. She became known as “Little Mahalia” amongst her church peers. Her powerful southern voice, even as a child, would help her to win contest after contest. It also brought her to the famed Apollo Theater. She remained popular, as the quiet girl with the big voice, throughout high school and college.

After college, Aniba made the decision to move to Chicago where she performed at local open mics, quickly becoming respected as a vocal powerhouse. She began to make recordings with a local hip hop producer. Her first EP, Etheric Child, influenced by hip hop, gained much respect from her peers, and wowed audiences. Aniba then began to seek out a band to bring movement and fluidity to her original music. Her voice was so respected that it was not hard finding what has now become The Sol Collective.Aniba is classic in every way, from moving from the country to the big city, to having roots in the church and influences like Otis Redding, Al Green, Shirley Brown, Betty Wright, Billie Holiday and Mahalia Jackson. She is a musical chameleon, able to morph into any style from gospel to hip hop and even acoustic. She implements soulful tones that haven’t been heard since the 60’s and 70’s. Aniba is what many call the natural progression of soul. She has lead her band, The Sol Collective, to many heights.

In March 2013, Aniba received national recognition as the winner of TV One’s “Are You Unsung?” vocal competition, and was featured on the TV Show Unsung. With amazing vocal and writing skills, you can look to Aniba Hotep to become the modern-day Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, and Tina Turner.

Neri Ma’at, one of the vocalists of Aniba Hotep & TSC, has been singing, playing and loving music since childhood. She started out playing the clarinet at the age of 8 and went on to play all throughout elementary and grammer school and continued through high school in  orchestra, concert and marching band, as well as, studied at the Merit School of Music.

She began pursuing her singing career, professionally, at the age of 14, making her first demo for Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. She continued her pursuit, in her teen years, entering talent shows with various singing groups that she put together, created choreography for and led. She continued to follow her passion, into her adulthood, working with various producers on several solo projects.

She met Aniba Hotep in 2001, while working on new music with manager, Ishmael White, and a hip hop producer who was in high demand, at the time, and began putting together a short compilation of songs to submit to Universal Records. Thus, history in the making began…….. A few years later,  Aniba Hotep & The Sol Collective was born.  She is now an integral part of AH&TSC, co-creating choreography, and assisting with backing and lead vocal arrangements, as well as, the signature style and dress of the ladies of Aniba Hotep & The Sol Collective, affectionately known as, “The Hotep Honeys”.

Caress Sahura, hailing from Maywood, a small suburb right outside of Chicago, like most young artists,  began honing her craft performing in church, school assemblies, local talent shows, in front of her family and friends and by listening to and studying some of her favorite artists like Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston, Sade, James Brown, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Deniece Williams to name a few.

In the early stages of her career, she began working with various producers, which led her talent to be showcased in some of the hottest entertainment venues around the Chicagoland area.  She started gaining popularity, as a member of the up and coming soul duo, Syrenn, which allowed her to open for Virgin recording artist Dwele, Eric Roberson and others.  She later opened for Kindred The Family Soul and sung backgrounds for such artists as, Carl Thomas, Dwele, D’Wayne Wiggins of Toni Tony Tone’, Alponso Hunter, and MC Lyte on several occasions.

Caress, a gifted writer and aspiring producer, believes she was born to sing! She stays committed to learning all facets of the music business and is constantly gaining experience in music and business management and spends many hours perfecting her various crafts.  She credits much of career ethics and growing success to her past manager and mentor, Chicago Fashion Designer, Larry James; Kahil El Zabar, Jazz extraordinaire; fellow musician and friend, Anthony Capers; and current manager, Ishmael White.

Currently, as a member of Aniba Hotep & The Sol Collective, she is not only one of the vocalists, she also displays her skills as an Emcee under the moniker, “Nile Disiac”.  The many personalities of her ever evolving artistry, help to keep the image and sounds of the “Hotep Honeys” a cut above the rest, as she also serves as their hairstylist and MUA, helping to ensure the success, of Aniba Hotep & The Sol Collective, in bringing back the true essence of R&B/Soul music!
